MAP Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor positioning on Intake Manifold or Throttle Body

MAP Sensor Mounting on In-Mani:

Bernoulli's principle states if an increase in the speed of the intake air occurs simultaneously with a decrease in pressure in the intake air. If we place MAP sensor near a particular runner then sensor output will fluctuate and vary randomly when air is flowing in that particular cylinder. For example cylinder 1 charging and so inlet air velocity is shown; Similarly Inlet air velocity will increase in firing order for near related runner. Intake Plenum Guide lines:

Ɯ  Air inlet pipe in placed at the plenum centre

Ɯ  All the runner are equal spaced

Ɯ  All runners have equal length and equal cross section if possible.

If we follow above guide line to make intake planum then we will get a Constant Velocity zone as shown in below figure. MAP Sensor must be fitted in this Constant Velocity Zone.
